On Monday, April 24th, the INSS began paying retirement and pensions to more than 36 million insured people. Payments refer to the April payroll and the calendar runs until May 8th for two groups.

With the new deposits, a question was raised for policyholders who were waiting for the 13th INSS payment this year: will the installments be brought forward to April and May? Find out more below:

Will the calendar be brought forward?

The extra benefit for INSS policyholders is already guaranteed to be paid in 2023. However, it is not yet certain when this money will be released. As in the last 3 years the payment of the 13th INSS was brought forward due to the pandemic, it was expected that the payment would also be brought forward in 2023.

However, for the resources to be released it is necessary for the Government to bring forward the deposit dates as generally the 1st installment of the allowance is deposited in August and the 2nd installment only in November.

So far, the Government has not given any indication of bringing forward the INSS 13th payment schedule. Despite news about the study of a possible advance in the calendar studied by the Ministry of Economy, the INSS also did not mention anything about an advance in payments.

When does the first installment of the 13th INSS fall?

Generally, the benefit for INSS retirees and pensioners is deposited on two dates, with the first payment falling together with the benefit for August and the second payment falling together with the November calendar.

The INSS 13th is passed on to more than 30 million Brazilians who receive retirement, death pension, temporary incapacity benefit, imprisonment benefit or accident benefit. Policyholders who receive Continuous Payment Benefit (BPC) or Lifetime Monthly Income (RMV) cannot receive the benefit.

In previous years, the Federal Government determined the advance payment of the 13th INSS, paying the two installments of the benefit in April and May.

Therefore, it is now possible to state that the INSS 13th salary will not be paid in advance in the first semester, as benefit deposits for the month of April began on the 24th, Monday, without the extra installment of the 13th salary.
