The extra additional R$ 150, proposed by the new elected government of Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) for children up to 6 years of age, who belong to families benefiting from the Bolsa Família program, should be delayed for at least 60 days until implementation. According to Wellington Dias, Minister of Social Development, it will be necessary to first carry out a fine-tooth comb process to begin registration.

We will carry out a kind of special census for registration. There are people who are inside illegally and there are people who are right outside", he said.

The release of the amounts will only be granted after the approval of a Provisional Measure to be prepared by the ministry for the restructuring of Bolsa Família. Dias highlighted that the objective is to return the program to the way it was before it became Auxílio Brasil under Bolsonaro's government.

In addition to other ministries, such as Health and Education, it will be necessary for the beneficiary to provide proof of prenatal exams and childhood vaccinations for family registration.

Fine-tooth comb on irregular registrations

One of the new minister's goals is to do a kind of fine-tooth comb, together with the data collected by the 2022 Census from IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics), to update the families that really need it to receive Bolsa Família.

Currently, the amount of R$ 600 – approved by the Senate through the PEC of benefits in the month of July in 2022 – is paid both to families made up of just one person (single person), and to families with children, for example.

Thus, the government's focus is to re-register for the Bolsa Família program, with the purpose of updating member numbers and making a calculation corresponding to each person.

Additional R$ 150 from Bolsa Família

In addition to the value of R$ from Bolsa Família, the government intends to pay an additional R$ 150 per child up to 6 years of age. It is estimated that the conditions for families to continue receiving the benefit are the same as those defined by Lula's government in previous years.

In the 1st version of the Bolsa Família program, some conditions were established, however, after the transition to Auxílio Brasil, they were no longer required. Are they:

  • School attendance of children from participating families up to 85%;
  • Monitoring of lactating women;
  • In the case of pregnant women who are part of the family, prenatal care is necessary;
  • For children who are in a situation of child labor, socio-educational campaigns are carried out;
  • Children's vaccination cards must be up to date.

When do Bolsa Família payments start in January?

The Federal Government has already released the new Bolsa Família calendar for this year. The last payment of Auxílio Brasil took place on December 23, 2022. The Bolsa Família calendar for January should start on the 18th for beneficiaries with final NIS 1, and continue until the 31st, when the last group receives it.

  • NIS final 1: January 18th;
  • NIS final 2: January 19th;
  • NIS final 3: January 20th;
  • NIS final 4: January 23rd;
  • NIS final 5: January 24th;
  • NIS final 6: January 25th;
  • NIS final 7: January 26th;
  • NIS final 8: January 27th;
  • NIS final 9: January 30th;
  • Final NIS 0: January 31st.
