Bolsa Família: Government publishes list of those who receive it in May

Since the relaunch of Bolsa Família in March, the program has expanded its coverage to more than 1 million families. These families now meet the requirements to be included in the list of program beneficiaries who were previously excluded.

Between March and April, benefits were granted to a total of 808.2 thousand new beneficiaries. In the month of May, the MDS (Ministry of Social Development) included another 200 thousand families, who began receiving resources from May 18th, Thursday.

As a result, significant increases in new Bolsa Família concessions were recorded in different states of Brazil. São Paulo is the leader of the list with the highest number of inclusions, with more than 45.5 thousand families benefiting. Soon after, comes Bahia, with 23.3 thousand new concessions, and Minas Gerais with almost 20.8 thousand new homes benefiting.

By Brazilian state, the granting of the benefit to new families in the month of May will now be:

Bolsa Família in the month of May

In May, Bolsa Família benefits almost 21.25 million families, thanks to a record investment worth R$ 14.1 billion. Included in this amount is an additional installment of R$ 150 intended exclusively for 9 million children aged 0 to 6 years, who together are receiving almost 1.36 billion. This means an increase of R$ 22 million compared to April and allowed the inclusion of more than 147,700 children in this age group.

With this update, the average benefit received by families also reached the highest value in the history of Bolsa Família, at R$ 672.45. From the month of June, the amount will receive even more increases with the transfers of R$ 50 aimed at pregnant women and children and adolescents aged between 7 and 18 years. The measures seek to offer even greater support to families who are in a situation of social vulnerability, especially during early childhood and adolescence.

Values distributed by municipalities

In the month of May, Bolsa Família serves a total of 21.25 million families across Brazil. The Northeast region stands out as the area with the highest proportion, covering 46% of this number. There are almost 9.76 million families who receive a total transfer of R$ 6.33 billion, with an average of R$ 664.38 per benefit. In second comes the Southeast, covering more than 6.33 million homes, which received an amount of 4.25 billion, with an average value of R$ 672.32 per family.

In the northern region of the country, around 2.6 million families are served by a Federal investment of more than R$ 1.7 billion, with an average value of R$ 688.15 per family. In the South, approximately 1.43 million families are receiving the amounts, totaling almost R$ 979.6 million. This results in an approximate average of R$ 685.13 per household.

Last comes the Central-West Region, with more than 1.13 million homes served by Bolsa Família, receiving a transfer of R$ 779.9 million from the Federal Government. Furthermore, this region has the highest average benefit value in all of Brazil, totaling R$ 691.20 per family.
