The 21 million eligible people who received Brazil Aid of R$ 600 in December will automatically migrate to Bolsa Família. The use of the program's old name has already been confirmed by the economic team of the new Lula government.

Therefore, the Bolsa Família payment in January should be R$ 600 and could reach a minimum value of R$ 860 in February. Next month, R$ 110 from Vale-Gás should be added to the minimum value of R$ 600 for an audience of 5.9 million families plus the additional value of R$ 150 for families with children up to 6 years old, promised by Lula in their campaigns and also already approved by Congress.

Bolsa Família calendar for January

From January 18th, the government will begin the first batch of payments of 2023. However, the payment must not include the additional amount of R$ 150 for children aged 0 to 6 years. As there was no time needed to process the January payroll with the additional amount included, the extra installment should only start in February.

How do I inquire about the benefit?

Checking the amount to be received and when the deposit will be made can be carried out through the Auxílio Brasil app until the new government recreates an app dedicated to Bolsa Família.

The criteria for receiving the benefit follow the same as Auxílio Brasil. Therefore, to receive the benefit, families must prove that they have the following income range:

  • Families in extreme poverty with monthly income per person of up to R$ 105;
  • Families in poverty with monthly income per person between R$ 105.01 and R$ 210.

Furthermore, the Single Registry (CadÚnico) is used by the Federal Government to map the families that can receive the benefits of the program. To register with CadÚnico, the family responsible must prove:

  • A monthly income per person of up to half the minimum wage (R$ 606);
  • Monthly income above this amount, as long as the family is linked to or requesting a program or benefit that uses the Single Registry for granting.

The government adopted registration with CadÚnico as the main way to join Auxílio Brasil. Registration can be carried out at local city halls and through the CRAS in your city.

Thus, to participate in the program, families did not need to register, they just needed to be on CadÚnico, update their data and receive a monthly income per person of up to R$ 210.

City halls send data on people entitled to Bolsa Família to the Ministry of Citizenship every month. Furthermore, these registrations are analyzed by Dataprev, which can authorize Caixa to include new beneficiaries in the income transfer program and make payments through Caixa Tem.
