The additional installment of the Bolsa Família program is guaranteed for the month of March. Luiz Marinho, Minister of Labor and Employment, made the announcement on his Twitter account on February 4th.
During the election campaign, Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) reiterated that Bolsa Família installments would be maintained at R$ 600, in addition to an additional R$ 150 per child up to 6 years old who was part of the benefiting family. However, in January and February the additional installment was not paid.
The additional installment was promised for March, after the Ministry of Social Assistance identified problems in CadÚnico registrations, making it impossible to transfer income to those who really need it.
Irregular registrations in Bolsa Família
After taking office, Lula and his team discovered irregularities in the social program. This is because the number of families with just one person (single-person families) was considerably large.
Thus, Wellington Dias, Minister of Development and Social Assistance, Family and Combating Hunger, requested that the program go through a “fine-toothed” process, with the purpose of identifying alleged fraud. As a result, families were notified to update their data with CadÚnico (Cadastro Único), and prevent the benefit from being suspended.
Additional installment of R$ 150
The update of the registration carried out by the Federal Government meant that the additional installment was postponed until March 2023, when the registration review should have already been completed.
This additional portion must be limited. Along with the novelty, two other new rules must also be instituted, making it mandatory for members to enroll in school during the basic education period, frequently, in addition to the child's vaccination card being up to date and pregnant women undergoing the pre- -Christmas.
In an interview given on the 6th, Monday, by the president at the inauguration ceremony of units at the Super Centro Carioca de Saúde Complex in Rio de Janeiro, Lula also stated that these requirements are decisive for children to be born healthy in Brazil.
“Bolsa Família returns with something important. Because Bolsa Família returns with a condition. Children aged up to 6 years will receive R$ 150 more. Children must be at school, if they are not at school, the mother loses the benefit. Children must also be vaccinated, otherwise the mother loses the benefit“, said Lula.
