With a change in rules, the new Bolsa Família started payments on March 20, Monday, for beneficiaries with final NIS 1 making the first deposit of the new program, leaving Auxílio Brasil behind.
The main novelty of Bolsa Família concerns the amount that families will receive in March. The minimum installment value of R$ 600 continues for all those approved, but 8.9 million children aged 0 to 6 will receive the additional installment of R$ 150 for the first time – known as the Early Childhood Benefit.
Another change is the review that is taking place in Bolsa Família registrations and in March the benefits of 1,479,916 Brazilians were canceled. On the other hand, the Government added 694,245 new families to the payroll. The average benefit is expected to be around R$ 669.93 per family in March.
“We are in a process. We will update the entire Single Registry. In this partnership with the SUAS network, with municipalities, we first focus on where irregularities are most predictable“, points out Minister Wellington Dias. “We are careful to work safely with the Single Registry, both for entry and exit of families“, he states.
Rules for receiving Bolsa Família in 2023
The Government also updated the poverty range, which went from R$ 210 to R$ 218, and the conditions for receiving Bolsa Família. Once approved in the program, the family will need to meet the requirements to continue receiving the installments:
- Prenatal care;
- Compliance with the national vaccination calendar;
- Nutrition monitoring, for beneficiaries up to 7 years of age;
- Minimum school attendance of 60% for beneficiaries with 4 to 6 years of incomplete education;
- Minimum attendance of 75% for beneficiaries aged 6 to 18 who have not completed basic education.
Benefit value for the month of March
The value of the installment to be deposited in March can now be consulted via the Citizen Portal and the new Bolsa Família App. Now, the New Bolsa Família is made up of the following benefits:
- Citizenship Income Benefit, worth R$ 142.00 per member, intended for all families benefiting from the Bolsa Família Program;
- Complementary Benefit, intended for beneficiary families of the Bolsa Família Program whose sum of values relating to financial benefits is less than R$ 600.00, which will be calculated by the difference between this value and the aforementioned sum;
- Early Childhood Benefit, in the amount of R$ 150.00 per child, intended for beneficiary families that have children aged between zero and seven incomplete;
- Family Variable Benefit, worth R$ 50.00, intended for beneficiary families that have pregnant women or children and adolescents aged between 7 and 18 years old in their composition;
- Extraordinary Transition Benefit, intended exclusively for families listed as beneficiaries of the Auxílio Brasil Program, which will be calculated by the difference between the amount received by the family in May 2023 and what they receive in June 2023.
Cancellation of 1.4 million benefits
In March, the Ministry of Social Development (MDS) began the process of updating the Single Registry (CadÚnico) which should encompass 21 million families by the end of 2023. Of the 1.4 million excluded from Bolsa Família in March, 393 thousand are families registered as single-person households that showed some sign of irregularity, including income exceeding that permitted to receive the benefit.
“These registrations come out in March because they are not single-person, but because they are above the income criteria admitted by Bolsa Família“, explains Letícia Bartholo, Secretary of Assessment, Information Management and Single Registry.
According to MDS data, the March payroll will have 1,479,916 benefits canceled across Brazil.
