Among nurses, the floor will also be defined for Nursing Technicians, Nursing Assistants and Midwives

The Chamber of Deputies approved this Tuesday (12) in the first round the Nursing PEC, Proposed Amendment to the Constitution (PEC) nº 11/22.

The bill that sets minimum wages (salary floors) for nurses, nursing technicians, nursing assistants and midwives has already been approved by Congress, but President Jair Bolsonaro (PL) hopes that Congress will identify the source of funding for payments before to approve it.

Value of the new floor for professionals

There is no voting date for the 2nd round; PEC serves as the legal basis for the law, which establishes a floor of R$ 4,750

It is an old struggle for the category, the Nursing Bill establishes a minimum salary for nurses of R$ 4,750; for nursing technicians R$ 3,325; and for nursing assistants and midwives, R$ 2,375.

In the text of the proposal, the value will be adjusted annually based on the National Consumer Price Index (INPC).

However, in an agreement between the president of the Chamber Arthur Lira (PP-AL) and party leaders, the 2nd round of the Nursing PEC should be postponed until later. Lira did not say when the vote would be completed.
