Serasa has made some changes to the way Brazilian consumers' credit scores are recorded by the credit bureau. According to information, the Serasa Score 2.0 update, introduced by the company in 2021, makes the payment history more relevant than the debt associated with each CPF.
With this information, the site can generate a score from 0 to 1000 to assess the consumer's risk of default, and the closer to a thousand, the lower the chances of a person getting into debt considering their background.
In short, the change increases the importance of positive registration – a service that collects details about Brazilians' credit and payment behavior – in relation to debt, which includes 56% from Serasa Score 2.0, while the criteria for paying bills went from 20% to 33% in the last update.
Meanwhile, the relevance of queries made by companies to the consumer's CPF fell from 17% to 6%, which means that this metric no longer has the same weight in forming the score as before. This change should mainly benefit people who have had payment difficulties in recent years, but have paid off their debts.
Serasa score range
According to Valor Investe, this update has only been released for the Serasa app (available for Android and iOS) for now, so the user will likely notice differences in the score displayed in the app and in the browser. See each score range below:
- 701 to 1000 points: Very good
- 501 to 700 points: Good
- 301 to 500 points: Normal
- 0 to 300 points: Low
