See Today an event called “Super Moon” that takes place every month

Super Moon: From 5:30 pm (Brasília time) this Wednesday (13), the second supermoon of the year will be visible from the sky. Known as the Deer Supermoon, it will appear to be even bigger and brighter.

The first phenomenon occurred last month. You don't need to use professional equipment to participate. It is enough that the sky conditions are favorable, without clouds.

Brazilian observatories will also host events to highlight the Super Moon, with telescopes and guidance for astronomers, such as the Rio de Janeiro Planetarium (RJ) and the Jean Nicolini Municipal Observatory in Campinas (SP).

Additional Tips for Observing the Supermoon The first hour after rising is the best time for a follow-up observation, as the Cervos Supermoon can display several color variations, such as glacial, due to its interaction with the atmosphere. Ex: yellowish, orange or reddish.

Astronomy websites or apps (such as Skywalk,Starchart, Sky Saari or Stellarium) can help you find the best viewing times in your area and are also useful for finding the position of other celestial bodies.

This is also when it appears huge because near the horizon we have an optical illusion due to the perspective with earthly references such as buildings and trees.

The next day is also a great observation opportunity, as our satellite is still at 100 light. She was born a little later, around 6:40 p.m.

Super moon vs regular full moon

Supermoon is a somewhat controversial concept as it is not an astronomical designation but a popular name.

The term was originally coined by an astrologer, Richard Nolle, in 1979. But today even NASA is talking about supermoons. There are simply no official rules for deciding who qualifies as one.

A supermoon occurs when the full moon coincides with or is very close to its perigee, the time of the month when it is closest to Earth. As a result, it appears up to 15 larger and 30 brighter in our sky.

July's full moon is just 357,418 km from Earth (the closest of the year) and the exact time of perigee is on the 13th of this month at 6:08 am.

July's full moon is just 357,418 km from Earth (the closest of the year) and the exact time of perigee is on the 13th of this month at 6:08 am.

For Nolle, the full moon must occur within 24 hours (before or after) of the exact time of perigee; so this year we only have two (June and June).

Some scientists, on the other hand, consider only distance as a determining factor; For astrophysicist Fred Espenak, moons in May, June, July and August are great.

Why is this happening?

Due to gravitational influences, the moons orbit the earth – just as the planets orbit the sun – not a perfect circle, but an ellipse (a kind of oval).

Therefore, during this movement, it moves away from and approaches our planet. The furthest point is called the apogee (about 400,000 km); the next perigee (about 360,000 km).

Perigee can occur in any of the phases; When it coincides with the full moon, we have a supermoon. Likewise, a full moon at its peak can be called a micro moon.
