The FGTS birthday withdrawal ends in a few days for those born in March. This group has until March 31st, Friday, to request the withdrawal of resources from the Guarantee Fund in 2023.

With the announcement by the Minister of Labor, Luiz Marinho, about the possible end of the birthday withdrawal, this may be the last opportunity for workers to withdraw part of the resources in the month of their birthday.

Created in 2019 by former president Jair Bolsonaro, the FGTS anniversary withdrawal has already generated more than 36 billion so far. By the month of January 2023, when the record number of redemptions reached, more than 50 million withdrawals had already been made.

The employee must opt for a birthday withdrawal through a Caixa branch or through the FGTS App;

  • When logging in with your CPF and password in the FGTS application, select the option “My Withdrawals” and then “Birthday Withdrawal Modality”.
  • On the next screen, the employee will be able to consult information about what will change when opting for the birthday withdrawal method.
  • It is also possible to simulate the amount of the released birthday withdrawal taking into account the total balance in your account on the current date.
  • So, just select the box “I have read and accept the terms and conditions” and click on “Opt for Birthday Withdrawal”.

Birthday withdrawal calendar for 2023

The employee can opt for a birthday withdrawal between the 1st and the last business day of the month of birth and also withdraw the amounts in the current year.

With the funds in the account, the deadline for withdrawing the amounts goes from the 1st business day of the month of birth to the last business day of the following month. See the deadlines below:

  • Born in January – withdrawal available from January 2nd to March 31st
  • Born in February – withdrawal available from February 1st to April 28th
  • Born in March – withdrawal available from March 1st to May 31st
  • Born in April – withdrawal available from April 3rd to June 30th
  • Born in May – withdrawal available from May 2nd to July 28th
  • Born in June – withdrawal available from June 1st to August 31st
  • Born in July – withdrawal available from July 3rd to September 29th
  • Born in August – withdrawal available from August 1st to October 31st
  • Born in September – withdrawal available from September 1st to November 30th
  • Born in October – withdrawal available from October 2nd to December 29th
  • Born in November – Withdrawal available from November 1st to January 31st, 2024
  • Born in December – withdrawal available from December 1st to February 29th, 2024

If the deadline is missed, it will still be possible to join the birthday withdrawal. However, the withdrawal of money will only be released next year.

It is important to mention that the birthday withdrawal modality is optional, that is, the worker is not obliged to choose to withdraw resources annually from the Guarantee Fund. The standard system for withdrawing the FGTS is withdrawal-termination, in which the employee has the right to withdraw the full amount from the Fund in the event of unfair dismissal.

I took the FGTS birthday withdrawal and was fired, what now?

There are some disadvantages in opting for the birthday withdrawal method instead of the termination withdrawal, for example, in the case of dismissal, the employee loses the right to withdraw the entire amount available in the Guarantee Fund – a right that is guaranteed by the termination withdrawal. .

Another disadvantage is that if the worker regrets opting for the birthday withdrawal, he must remain in the modality for 2 years until the return to the termination withdrawal is effective.

Other rights, such as the termination fine of 40%, accrued vacation, salary balance and proportional 13th salary remain valid. The employee who opts for the birthday withdrawal method will also be able to receive unemployment insurance if he or she is fired.

How do I know the value of the birthday withdrawal?

The calculation of the value of the birthday withdrawal is made based on a table created by Caixa that considers the balance of the employee's FGTS account, a withdrawal rate and an additional installment, check below:

Balance Ranges – R$Withdrawal rateAdditional Installment
Up to R$ 50050%R$ 0.00
From 500.01 to 1,00040%R$ 50.00
From 1,000.01 to 5,00030%R$ 150.00
From 5,000.01 to 10,00020%R$ 650.00
From 10,000.01 to 15,00015%R$ 1,150.00
From 15,000.01 to 20,00010%R$ 1,900.00
Above 20,000.015%R$ 2,900.00

A practical example: An employee who has R$ 1 thousand in the FGTS can receive a birthday withdrawal of R$ 400 (rate of 40%) plus R$ 50 (additional installment), totaling the value of R$ 450.

It is also possible to simulate the amount available for the birthday withdrawal by accessing the FGTS App, selecting the “FGTS Birthday Withdrawal” option and clicking on “Simulate the birthday withdrawal value”.

If the employee chooses not to withdraw another part of the resources annually, the birthday withdrawal can be undone through the FGTS App (available for Android and iOS) or via Caixa website.
