This October, Caixa Econômica Federal releases three ways to withdraw the FGTS (Service Time Guarantee Fund) for Brazilians.

The withdrawal methods are: the birthday withdrawal, available to those born in October until the 30th, the extraordinary FGTS withdrawal released at the beginning of 2022 and the calamity withdrawal for some regions of Brazil.

Since last Monday (3), birthday withdrawals of up to R$ 3,900 have been released for employees born in October. This month's birthdays have until October 30th to withdraw part of their FGTS account balance in 2022.

The birthday withdrawal is an alternative to the termination withdrawal, a standard modality for most Brazilians where the withdrawal is only released if the worker is fired without just cause. In this case, upon termination of the contract, the holder is entitled to a full withdrawal of the FGTS account balance, including the termination fine when necessary.

To access the birthday withdrawal, the worker must choose to change mode. Once the employee has opted for this modality, he will be able to withdraw annually, in the month of his birthday, part of the amounts calculated according to the balance existing in the FGTS accounts.

However, when changing the form of withdrawal-withdrawal to withdrawal-birthday, the worker loses the right to full FGTS payment if he is fired, and is only entitled to the termination fine.

The value of the birthday withdrawal is determined based on a calculation that takes into account the FGTS account balance range, a payment rate and an additional fee added. The employee can simulate the value of the birthday withdrawal through the FGTS application or calculate it using the table below:

For those born in October this year to have access to the money, it is necessary to make the request via the FGTS app or at a Caixa branch between the first business day (October 3) and the last day of the month of birth (October 30). ).

The deadline for withdrawing up to R$ 1,000 from the FGTS extraordinary withdrawal is still open. The round of emergency withdrawals was released between April 20 and June 15 for 43 million workers via the Caixa Tem App. 

Employees with balances in active and inactive FGTS accounts can withdraw a maximum amount of R$ 1,000 and there is no need to request the withdrawal, the deposit is made automatically by Caixa into the employee's account.

However, the money that is not moved within 90 days will return to the FGTS account and, if the employee changes his mind, he can request a withdrawal through the FGTS application until December 15, 2022.

Caixa released the calamity withdrawal for workers in cities in Santa Catarina hit by heavy rains in August in recent days. To date, the population of Bocaina do Sul (SC), Mafra (SC), Cordilheira Alta (SC), Curitibanos (SC) and Forquilhinha (SC) are able to request the calamity withdrawal. 

In addition to the municipalities in Santa Catarina, other cities also have an open deadline for requesting withdrawals. In total, around 175 municipalities qualified for the calamity withdrawal in 2022.

The FGTS withdrawal procedure is permitted in cases of public calamity or emergency situations recognized by state, municipal and Federal District notices.

To make a calamity withdrawal from the FGTS, the employee must have a positive balance in the fund account and not have made a withdrawal in a calamity situation for a period of less than 12 months. The value of the calamity withdrawal is limited to R$ 6,220.00 per person for each event classified as a natural disaster, respecting the 12-month interval between one payment and another.

Open the FGTS application and log in using your Caixas registration information. 

After this, the data will be forwarded to Caixa, which will analyze the request and release the amount to the employee's account if he or she is eligible for the calamity withdrawal.
