To withdraw from the Service Time Guarantee Fund (FGTS), the worker must fit into some specific situations. Withdrawals can be made at lotteries, using your citizen card. However, if the value is greater than R$1,500, or the worker does not have the card, they must go to a Caixa branch.

One way to access the FGTS is through the birthday withdrawal. It allows the worker to receive a portion of their fund balance every year, in the month of their birthday.

Another common cause of withdrawal from the fund is in the case of unfair dismissal. Therefore, the worker can withdraw the full amount from their Guarantee Fund. In addition, he receives a termination fine of 40% on the amount deposited by the employer throughout the employment contract.

Different ways to use FGTS

FGTS values are adjusted monthly. One tip is that when requesting a withdrawal, the citizen can choose to receive payment after interest credit and monetary update. Therefore, this option can be advantageous for the worker, who will have a higher amount to receive.

One of the possibilities for using the FGTS is to pay off part of the real estate financing. From August 2023, workers will also be able to use the Guarantee Fund to pay the installments for the first property financed by the Real Estate Financing System. The option will be to use the amount to reduce the outstanding balance of the property or deduct up to 80% from the installment in 12 months.

Another option is to advance the birthday withdrawal, which the worker can join with a minimum amount of R$2 thousand. Therefore, he can advance the equivalent of up to three years of the birthday withdrawal and use the FGTS as a guarantee to take out the credit. This modality can be useful for emergency situations or for short-term investments.

In the event of the death of a relative, the citizen can receive the full FGTS and PIS/Pasep inheritance. This possibility can help financially in times of difficulty.
