Workers born in November can now join the FGTS birthday withdrawal. Values are available for up to 3 months after the 1st business day of the anniversary month, in this case, until the end of January.

For workers born in September and October, the FGTS birthday withdrawal is currently available.

It is important to remember that changing to this modality is optional and must be communicated to Caixa Econômica Federal. Since the launch of the FGTS anniversary withdrawal in April 2020, the modality has been used by more than 21 million workers, exceeding the value of R$ 31 billion injected into the economy.

Adhering to the birthday withdrawal modality can be done through the FGTS App, available for Android and iOS systems, through the FGTS website and through Caixa's Internet Banking (it is not necessary to go to a branch).

For those who wish to continue with the withdrawal-termination modality, it is not necessary to inform Caixa.

Termination withdrawal x FGTS birthday withdrawal

  • Withdrawal-termination: System where the worker is dismissed without just cause and has the right to withdraw the full FGTS, including the termination fine when due;
  • Birthday withdrawal: It is optional for employees who wish to receive the amount annually in their birthday month. In cases of dismissal, the employee will only be able to withdraw the amount of the termination fine (40% paid by the company), and will not be able to withdraw the total amount from the account.

Withdrawal calendar in 2022

Limit for withdrawing the Birthday Withdrawal

In the FGTS birthday withdrawal, the withdrawal limit refers to a percentage of the balance available in the employee's account. For accounts with up to R$ 500, 50% of the balance is released. For accounts with a balance greater than R$ 500, these withdrawal percentages will be increased by a fixed fee.

The value of the annual withdrawal is determined by applying a rate varying between 5% and 50% to the sum of all balances in employees' FGTS accounts, plus an additional portion, as follows:

Balance available in FGTS account (R$)Rate of withdrawal of the amount in the accountAdditional Installment (R$)
Up to 50050%0
From 500.01 to 1,000.0040%50,00
From 1,000.01 to 5,000.0030%150,00
From 5,000.01 to 10,000.0020%650,00
From 10000.01 to 15,000.0015%1.150,00
From 15,000.01 to 20,000.0010%1.900,00
Above 20,000.005%2.900.00

For example, if a worker has R$ 750 in their FGTS account, they will receive R$ 40% of this amount, in this case R$ 300 + the additional rate of R$ 50, totaling R$ 350. If the citizen has R$ 25 thousand in their FGTS accounts, they can withdraw 5% of this amount, which is R$ 1,250 + the additional rate of R$ 2,900, totaling R$ 4,150.
