New families will receive Auxílio Brasil for the first time from September. The transfers, which begin next Monday, the 19th, will include a new group of beneficiaries who will join the program starting this month.

According to the Minister of Citizenship, Ronaldo Vieira Bento, the government managed to place all the people waiting for the benefit on the Auxílio Brasil payroll. The process was also carried out in the August payment, when 2.2 million families were approved to receive the first installment of R$ 600.

The minister's statement took place on the Brasil em Pauta program on Tv Brasil, where the minister spoke a little about the family selection process. According to Bento, today there is no family in extreme poverty that does not receive Auxílio Brasil. (the interview aired last Sunday, September 11).

In the month of September we are clearing the waiting list again, that is, all families in extreme poverty in Brazil are covered with Auxílio Brasil of at least R$ 600. We do not have any families with regular registration without receiving Auxílio Brasil“, said the minister.

The inclusion of 2.2 million families on the payroll in August was the second time that the government cleared the Auxílio Brasil waiting list. The first time was in January this year, when more than 3 million families were approved to receive the benefit. Since then, according to the minister, the process known as “zeroing the queue” has been carried out constantly.

Bento also said that the government intends to exceed 21 million families benefiting from the program by the end of the year. By December, the government should admit another 1.4 million people and expand Auxílio Brasil to 21.6 million beneficiaries.

According to the CECAD Citizenship portal, CadÚnico (Cadastro Único) currently has 37.11 million registered families (more than 88.06 million people). Of these, 19.1 million families are in extreme poverty – they have a per capita income of up to R$ 105 per month – and another 3.3 million families are considered to be in poverty (per capita income between R$ 105.01 and R$ 210 ).

These data, which refer to the month 07/2022, indicate that there are 22.5 million families in Brazil that could receive Auxílio Brasil based on income criteria. However, the program's reach last month was 20.2 million.
