As informed by the Federal Revenue, consultation of the 1st batch of Income Tax refunds in 2023 will be available until May 24th. The list of taxpayers eligible to receive will be published one week before payments.

Payment of the refunded amounts began on May 31, 2023. Taxpayers who sent the declaration by May 10 will be able to receive it in the first batch, in accordance with the payment dates defined by Law for each batch.

Income Tax refunds will be divided into 5 lots.

The priority criteria for receiving the refund are established by law and include elderly people over the age of 80, people aged 60 or over, people with physical or mental disabilities or serious illnesses, in addition to taxpayers whose main source of income is the teaching profession. Those who opt for the pre-filled declaration and/or choose to receive the amounts refunded via Pix will also have priority.

New in refund payment

A new feature that arrived at Income Tax in 2023 is the possibility of receiving the amounts refunded through Pix, simply by entering the Pix key when submitting the declaration. The Pix key is made up of the CPF number, offering greater security to taxpayers.

Remembering that the Income Tax refund is the refund of the tax paid in excess by the taxpayer during the previous year. Therefore, those who are not entitled to a refund can choose to pay the tax due in up to 8 installments, as long as each installment is not less than R$ 50.
