Last Tuesday (16), the Federal Public Defender's Office (DPU) and the National Social Security Institute (INSS) signed an agreement that aims to expand and accelerate citizens' access to Social Security and Continuous Benefits (BPC).

Therefore, this agreement includes the implementation of a system dedicated to supporting INSS beneficiaries. In addition to developing a communication flow between institutions to speed up the resolution of outstanding payments. Understand how it will work!

Partnership between DPU and INSS

The system, aimed at the most vulnerable and digitally illiterate, will allow the DPU to participate in responding to requests for services and benefits made available by the INSS through remote service channels.

Both the DPU and the INSS aim, therefore, to create a flow of communication for the collective extrajudicial resolution of conflicts. The goal is to avoid class action lawsuits. Actions like these take years to resolve.

Macro issues involving many policyholders are included; Interpretation of legislation where the INSS and DPU have different views. We will forward these demands to the local authority, which will have an open institutional channel and will respond by considering or accepting the Ombudsman's proposals, explained the Confederation's public defender and coordinator of the Pension Coordination and Review Chamber, Fernanda Hahn.

Services provision

Furthermore, the partnership with the DPU intends to expand the provision of services to beneficiaries through advice, guidance and preparation related to social security benefits. Furthermore, federal public defenders may request the reopening of assistance procedures that have been rejected due to non-compliance with the conditions, as long as an error in the transmission of the notification is proven.

Implementation

The DPU highlighted, however, that the effects of this partnership will not be felt immediately. Implementing the new system nationwide will take some time to establish, according to the agency. It is important to note that this service will not be implemented immediately. Registering and preparing the DPU units will take some time. Only then can this type of service be effective. In any case, signing the technical agreement is one of the first steps towards this objective, explained the DPU.
