A decree was signed by President Lula on May 4th, Thursday, anticipating the INSS 13th salary payment schedule.

Just as was done by Jair Bolsonaro in previous years, President Lula decided to advance payments. Therefore, the extra allowance will be paid between May and June. According to the original INSS 13th salary calendar, payments were made in two installments, the first being paid in August and the second in November.

Lula made the final decision and established when the money will be released. As the INSS 13th salary calendar had been brought forward in the last 3 years, it was expected that payments would also be brought forward this year. And this will finally happen.

The INSS releases the first installment of retirees' 13th salary from May 25th to more than 30 million insured people. Those who receive a minimum wage, currently worth R$ 1,320.00, will receive it earlier, on 25/05. For those who earn more than one minimum wage, 13th salary deposits take place from June 1st.

Lula brought forward the annual bonus for Social Security policyholders through a decree signed on May 4, Thursday. The two installments add up to a total of R$ 62.6 billion of investment by the Federal Government.

The measure represents a significant injection of resources into local markets. São Paulo leads with the largest transfer for payment of the annual benefit, followed by Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Paraná and Bahia.

The anticipation of the payment schedule was already being analyzed by the Ministry of Economy. The INSS 13th salary is paid to more than 30 million Brazilians who receive benefits such as retirement, temporary disability benefit, death pension, imprisonment benefit or accident benefit. Policyholders who receive BPC (Continuous Payment Benefit) or RMV (Lifetime Monthly Income) are not entitled to the benefit.

In the 1st installment, 50% of the benefit value is paid, without any discount. When paying the 2nd installment, taxes may apply, such as the IR (Income Tax) discount for those who receive more than R$ 1.9 thousand.

To know the day on which the benefit is deposited, you need to look at the benefit, pension or assistance card number. The final number on the card, disregarding the check digit (number after the dash), indicates the date for receiving the money. Example: A card with the number 123.456.789-0, shows ending 9.
