Always at the end of the year, the INSS (National Social Security Institute) publishes the payment schedule for the following year. And in 2022, it was no different. The institute has already announced the dates for payment of social security benefits in 2023.
Thus, pensioners, retirees, and other beneficiaries who receive sickness benefit or the Continuous Payment Benefit (BPC), can now know when they will receive it. In short, the amounts must be paid with the adjustment of the minimum wage, which must be R$ 1,302, according to the provisional measure signed by Bolsonaro last Monday (12). Even so, the Transition PEC provides for an increase in the minimum to R$ 1,320.
When does the INSS calendar start in 2023?
In short, deposits from the month of January must be paid between January 25th and February 7th for those earning up to the minimum wage. Meanwhile, those who earn above the minimum wage must receive it from February 1st.
Final Benefit Number | Payments for those who earn ONE salary | Payments for those earning ABOVE ONE salary |
1 | January 25th | February 1st |
2 | January 26th | February 2nd |
3 | January 27th | February 3rd |
4 | January 30 | February 6th |
5 | January 31st | February 7th |
6 | February 1st | February 1st |
7 | February 2nd | February 2nd |
8 | February 3rd | February 3rd |
9 | February 6th | February 6th |
0 | February 7th | February 7th |
How do I know the payment date?
To know the date on which you receive the benefit, you need to check the final Benefit Card number. This, disregarding the last check digit, the one that comes after the dash.
Currently, more than 37 million people in Brazil receive the INSS benefit, which should undergo an adjustment in 2023. For those who receive more than the minimum wage, it is not yet certain what the percentage value of the adjustment will be.
Will benefits be readjusted?
Yes. Policyholders will receive the values adjusted according to the national minimum. Last Monday, the 12th, Jair Bolsonaro published an MP that raises the minimum wage to R$ 1,302 from January 1, 2023. The minimum wage value is currently R$ 1,212.
The value of R$ 1,302 was already foreseen in the 2023 Annual Budget Bill (LOA). The text was forwarded to Congress by the Government in August. The project took into account an inflation of 7.41% in the year 2022.
From then on, the increase in the minimum wage did not provide any real gain. However, the inflation forecast for this year has fallen. Thus, the adjustment represents an inflation variation of 5.81% + real gain of 1.5%.
It is also worth mentioning that the coordinator of the Budget nucleus of Lula's transition team, Wellington Dias, senator-elect, predicted an adjustment of R$ 1,320. Therefore, it remains to be seen what will actually happen and whether the minimum wage will remain at R$ 1,302 or whether it will increase to R$ 1,320 as envisaged by the new government.
In any case, it is worth highlighting that the INSS minimum benefit ceiling starts at the minimum wage. Therefore, the value of the benefit will be higher from January 2023.
