Windows 12 is expected to be released by Microsoft only in 2023, but the company leaked the operating system's possible final interface during a presentation at the Ignite conference.
The folks at Windows Central were able to capture the image and then recreate it to improve the quality. The highlight observed is on the taskbar, which should become floating.
Additionally, the taskbar no longer fills the entire bottom part of the screen, so Microsoft will have to relocate information about the date, time and system icons to the top right corner.
Details about the weather forecast are on the left, while the search tab can be centered.
In general, this new user interface, although it may represent a considerable change compared to what we currently have in Windows 11, the change in interface is also being compared with Apple's macOS system.
“There's no denying that the floating bottom bar is very similar to Apple's system dock, while relocating system information to the top corner is also something that has existed in macOS for quite some time.“.
Microsoft sources say that this interface is not yet the final version and that many changes may occur before Windows 12 arrives, but the company intends to reach a universal standard to improve the experience on devices with touch screens.
“Windows 8 was very touch-centric and Windows 10 was very mouse-centric. Windows 11 tries to find a balance, but still focuses on the mouse, leaving touch in the background“.
Currently, there is no official position from Microsoft. So far, everything is still just a rumor.
