This Monday, January 2nd, the Pix rules are already in effect, which from now on will no longer have a value limit per transaction, in accordance with the Central Bank's resolution.
The changes aim to simplify the rules and improve the user experience,”maintaining a high level of security“, stated the Central Bank when announcing the new rules at the beginning of December.
New changes to Pix
Institutions no longer need to set value limits per transaction. The value limits will only be maintained by period: daytime (from 6 am to 8 pm) or nighttime (from 8 pm to 6 am).
With the change, the user will be able to transfer the entire limit for a period (day or night) in just one Pix transaction or transfer several times, at the account holder's discretion.
Example: If the account holder previously had a total daily limit of R$ 3,000, but a limit of R$ 1,000 per movement, they would have to make three transfers. From now on he can make a one-time transfer of R$ 3 thousand.
The Central Bank also increased the limits for withdrawing money in Pix Saque and Pix Troco transactions.
As a result, daytime withdrawals go from R$ 500 to R$ 3,000 and from R$ 100 to R$ 1,000 for nighttime withdrawals.
The rules for customizing Pix limits have not changed. Banks will have a period of 24 to 48 hours to comply with the increase in limits and must immediately accept requests for reduction. This is already valid today.
The night limit time can be flexible and defined by the customer if the bank offers this option. Today, the cut-off time is from 8pm to 6am, but anyone who wants can start at 10pm.
According to a note from the Central Bank, this change does not need to come into force now, banks have until July 3, 2023 to implement it. The night limit was introduced to prevent criminal acts such as robbery and flash kidnapping.
