Starting in February, the Minha Casa Minha Vida program will make its return after being replaced by the Casa Verde e Amarela program during the government of former president Jair Bolsonaro.

Lula has already set the date: on February 14th, the president will participate in an event to inaugurate the social project that aims to make it easier for low-income people to own their own home. In this way, the state of Bahia was selected to host the event, which was confirmed by Jerônimo Rodrigues (PT), governor of the state and ally of Lula. The state was one of the largest electoral colleges that elected the current president in last year's elections.

The governor of Bahia said that Lula is expected to announce the delivery of more than 500 apartments in the Santo Amaro da Purificação region, located in the so-called Recôncavo of Bahia. The change from the Casa Verde Amarela program to Minha Casa, Minha Vida must be made through a Provisional Measure.

This way, once President Lula sanctions the MP, the document becomes law and does not require prior approval from the National Congress.

In addition to changing the name, Lula's government intends to make several changes to the housing program. The ministers' idea is to make it even easier for the poorest families to own their own home. However, the final model of the project has not yet been released.

“I still don't know what the design will be like. But Lula and Rui Costa will emphasize lower-income families“, said Jerônimo, governor of Bahia.

The governor of Bahia was in Brasília/DF during the week and participated in a meeting between Lula and the 27 Brazilian governors.

After assuming the presidency, Bahia was one of the first states visited by Lula. After diplomatic trips to Argentina and Uruguay, Lula is expected to begin internal travel and one of his first destinations will be the state that widely supports him.

In the state of Piauí, President Lula is expected to launch the New Bolsa Família in 2023. The social program was established in 2003 by the PT. In 2021, former president Bolsonaro had changed the name to Auxílio Brasil to separate the program from the image of the PT governments.

For Wellington Dias (PT), Minister of Social Development, Family and Fight Against Hunger, the program should be launched in February. However, the date and location where the event will take place have not yet been announced, although in this case, Piauí is the favorite.

In addition to the continued value of R$ 600, the new version of Bolsa Família will also have an additional installment of R$ 150, paid for each child under 6 years of age. A fine-tooth comb process should also be carried out to find out who really needs the benefit.

On January 31st, the last group of beneficiaries received Bolsa Família payments for the month of January, thus ending the calendar.
