INSS policyholders will receive more in 2023. Check the new value

The minimum wage for INSS policyholders will be readjusted in 2023. This is due to the rule in the federal constitution that guarantees that the national minimum wage is never lower than inflation.

Benefits for INSS policyholders arrive in 2023

In practice, as the price of products and services increases, workers' wages also increase, which guarantees the stability of purchasing power.

Furthermore, it is important to highlight that inflationary accumulation affects not only the workers' salary base, but also the benefits granted by the government, including the INSS (National Social Security Institute), which affects INSS insured people.

In short, the law defines that no benefit paid by the INSS can be less than the minimum wage. Thus, INSS policyholders who receive the basic subsidy from the municipality will receive R$ 1,212 (national minimum in 2022).

New minimum wage expands benefits for INSS policyholders

According to the federal government, the Budget Guidelines Bill (PLDO) submitted to the National Congress will update the minimum wage proposal. The forecast says that the lower limit will rise from the current R$ 1,212 to R$ 1,302 in 2023.

The new value for INSS policyholders is calculated based on the inflation index of 7.4 measured by the INPC (National Consumer Price Index). In any case, it should be noted that these are just estimates of how much inflation could accumulate by December 2022.

The new minimum wage will only be officially announced in January 2023. Therefore, it is possible that INSS pensioners and retirees will receive more or less than the amount declared at the time.

However, if the most recent prognosis is confirmed, INSS funds will be granted with a minimum value of R$ 1,302 and a maximum of R$ 7,612.38 (social security ceiling). The correction will affect the income of 56.7 million Brazilians. Of all these, 24.2 million citizens are insured with the institute.
