The Federal Court of Auditors (TCU) will analyze the Public Ministry's request to suspend the Auxílio Brasil consignment by Caixa Econômica Federal.

The request, made by deputy attorney Lucas Furtado, considered signs of deviation from the purpose and purely electoral objective in granting the Auxílio Brasil payroll loan, also alleging that Caixa could cause damage to the public treasury.

The request consists of taking precautionary measures directing Caixa Econômica Federal to “refrain from granting new credits allocated to beneficiaries of Auxílio Brasil, regardless of legal and illicit agreements, until this Court of Auditors issues a ruling on the matter“.

Caixa began offering the new loan last Tuesday (11), with an interest rate of 3.45% per month – slightly below the ceiling of 3.5% per month established by the federal government. The loan can be made in 24 consecutive monthly installments for a period of up to two years.

The maximum value of the Auxílio Brasil loan installment is 40% of the benefit value. Therefore, anyone who receives R$ 400 can commit up to R$ 160 of the monthly payment to the loan installments, leaving R$ 240 left. The minimum rate is R$ 15.

For those who take out the credit, they will receive the amount in the same account that Auxílio Brasil is deposited, choosing the deadline for payment of the installments, which are deposited directly from the benefit each month, that is, the family will not receive the full benefit amount until the end of the loan term.

700 thousand Auxílio Brasil loans released by Caixa

In three days of operation, Caixa Econômica Federal released 700 thousand loans from Auxílio Brasil and Benefício de Prestação Continuada (BPC) for a total credit volume of R$ 1.8 million. The information was released by the Bank's president, Daniella Marques, during a press conference held last Monday (17).
