Last week was quite intense on Twitter following Elon Musk's acquisition of the company for US$ 44 billion (R$ 222.5 billion). Friday, in particular, was quite traumatic for most of the now former employees, as Musk laid off dozens of people, including part of the team of 150 employees who work here in Brazil. Now, Elon Musk would be requesting the return of some of those who were fired.

The entire dismissal process was very quick, after the confirmation of Elon Musk's acquisition on October 27th, it appears to have been quite chaotic. Twitter disconnected about 3,700 people via email in less than a week in order to reduce costs.

And the activities of the company's Human Resources department would have been chaotic, according to reports from two internal sources interviewed by Bloomberg News. Apparently, some of those laid off were let go without managers noticing that their work and experience were evaluated correctly, especially due to some new features that were in the development phase at Twitter.

According to Bloomberg News, many employees only discovered the loss of their positions after realizing they could no longer access their emails and accounts on the corporate communications platform Slack.

Twitter has not yet commented on the matter and does not confirm what the two sources told Bloomberg. However, the launch of the new subscription plan called TwitterBlue, which will allow users to use the verification badge for US$ 8 (R$ 40) per month, was postponed until after the midterm elections in the United States taking place on Tuesday (8) – the justification was concerns about the possible spread of false information during the American election period.

Twitter has already indicated that it will soon introduce additional features, including the ability to post longer videos and sort replies, mentions and polls by priority. The new direction also promises to reduce the display of advertisements by half.
