Auxílio Brasil: How to register new program cards?

Between July and August this year, 6.1 million new Auxílio Brasil cards have already been distributed to beneficiaries across the country. Now the government is sending another 500,000 in the first days of September.

With the card, citizens can receive benefits in the form of withdrawals from Caixa ATMs or lottery outlets, use the debit function to make purchases at accredited establishments, pay bills, and other services.

The new card is more secure and has a chip for debit payments.

Can I request a new Auxílio Brasil card?

There is no way to request new Auxílio Brasil cards. The new cards are being delivered first to the last beneficiaries who were recently included. Last month, the government added 2.2 million new people to the social program, and now they are receiving the benefit.

Those who were part of Bolsa Família and use the card should normally be the last group to have the new card issued and sent.

It is not necessary to go to CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Center) to request a new program card, as it will be delivered free of charge by mail to the beneficiaries' address.

Anyone who has not yet received the new Auxílio Brasil card can continue using the old one or use the services available on the Caixa TEM social savings app.

What is the reason for exchanging cards?

The government's objective with card exchanges is to facilitate access to money for beneficiaries, as it allows purchases to be made using the debit function and withdrawals at banks 24 hours a day.

Distribution of new Auxílio Brasil cards

The distribution of new Auxílio Brasil cards is happening in this way:

  • For citizens residing in municipalities that do not have a Caixa payment channel or for cities that have overloaded payment units;
  • For beneficiaries who received the benefit only through Caixa Tem social savings;
  • For those who were included in Auxílio Brasil from November 2021 (new beneficiaries);
  • For those who were already enrolled in the program, but received it via the Auxílio Brasil card.

According to the Ministry of Citizenship, the new batch is already being delivered to beneficiaries who used the old card.

Unblocking or re-registering new cards

The card is unlocked by calling 111 – at Caixa Auxílio Brasil. During the call, the beneficiary must confirm their NIS (Social Identification Number), ID and CPF, in addition to the information contained on the card itself.

After the phone call, the citizen must go to a lottery or Banco Caixa branch and present their identification document to complete the activation and registration or re-registration.
