President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT) signed last Thursday, March 2, the MP that recreates the new format of Bolsa Família in 2023. In this way, the Government will add 700 thousand new families to the program, who will receive the minimum of R$ 600 plus complementary benefits from March 20th.
The confirmation was made by the Minister of Social Development, Wellington Dias. According to him, around 20.8 million families and 55 million people will be served.
Under the MP, all family members, regardless of age, receive at least R$ 142 per person. According to the Government's technical criteria, the average benefit payment will now increase to R$ 715 per family.
What will the new Bolsa Família rules be like?
Now, the Bolsa Família program will have two rules, the first being protection and the second related to guaranteed returns. According to the Government, “If the family's life improves, their income may increase by up to half the minimum wage per capita without leaving the program immediately.“.
In the case of guaranteed return, the Government says that “families who voluntarily leave the program or lose income and need to return to the program will have priority in returning“.
For families that receive the amounts from the program, they must be registered in the Single Registry, have an income of up to half the current minimum wage (R$ 651) and a per capita income of R$ 218.
Fraud-free program
During the program's launch ceremony, Lula made a request to the Brazilian press, requesting that they be monitored seriously “because if there are those who do not deserve it, they will not receive the program, which is only for those who are in poverty", he said.
Wellington Dias, MDS minister, highlighted that during the process of combing the benefits, beneficiaries with around 9 minimum wages receiving the amounts were identified. In a promise, Wellington Dias said that fraud will cease to exist “because we are going to make CadÚnico more efficient“.
Dias also highlighted that the Bolsa Família program and the Single Registry will once again be supervised by the Federal Public Ministry, the General Comptroller of the Union and the Federal Court of Auditors.
Bolsa Família consultation
Now, new entrants to the program will be able to check whether they will be in the new group of beneficiaries from March 6th.
According to MDS, the new Bolsa Família app will be available in app stores from March 6th.
Through the application, the beneficiary will be able to consult the list of benefits received by the family, check the calendar payment dates, the status of the benefit and which installments of Bolsa Família have already been withdrawn.
Additional information about Bolsa Família can be clarified by the MDS Central at number 121, from Monday to Friday, from 7am to 7pm and through Contact Us on the website – https://www.gov.br/cidadania/pt-br.
