The end of Brazil Aid is already being considered; What will the beneficiaries of the program be like?

One of the proposals of Lula's campaigns should be the restoration of the Bolsa Família program, ending the program created by Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Auxílio Brasil.

The presidential elections were held in Brazil on October 30th. Candidate Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva (PT), was elected for the 3rd term to the Presidency of the Republic to govern for 4 years, starting in 2023.

More than 124 million Brazilians went to the polls to vote, despite 156 being eligible to vote. With the victory, the PT is now beginning to assemble its new government and plan how it will fulfill its campaign promises.

Will the Auxílio Brasil program end?

One of the proposals of Lula's campaigns should be the restoration of the Bolsa Família program, ending the program created by Jair Bolsonaro (PL), Auxílio Brasil. But one question that remains in the air is: will the Auxílio Brasil program really end?

In fact, the Auxílio Brasil program should return under its first name, which became known as Bolsa Família.

Currently, the Federal Government transfers the amount of R$ 600 per month to program beneficiaries. In October, the program reached the milestone of more than 21 million families receiving Auxílio Brasil.

The amount was approved by the Benefits PEC by the National Congress in July 2022. As a result, the benefit received an additional R$ 200 and will be paid by the end of 2022. However, the new government team is analyzing the expenses budget for 2023 so that the amount continues to be paid to beneficiaries.

In addition to the amount of R$ 600, Lula promised the family that receives the benefit an additional R$ 150 per child under 6 years old, which will generate an additional expense to the budget of R$ 15 billion, still without a source of funding.

Bolsa Família Program in 2023

To guarantee the value of R$ 750 from Bolsa Família (plus the fixed and additional benefit per child), Lula must enter into negotiations with the National Congress to approve a new PEC – Proposed Amendment to the Constitution, and only then execute the change in 2023 .

The value would be the same as Emergency Aid, which was paid between 2020 and 2021 by the Government during the Coronavirus pandemic period, when the country's economy was affected by isolation measures.
