After his return, the Bolsa Família program once again became one of the most discussed topics in Brazil, since Jair Bolsonaro (PL) in his government had replaced the program with Auxílio Brasil. However, with Lula's (PT) victory in October, the new president of the republic changed the program in his first days in office.
However, due to the great speculation on the subject, a lot of information appears that is not always true. With this, one of the latest news to circulate would be whether single mothers registered with Bolsa Família can receive a higher amount than other beneficiaries. See what is known about the subject so far.
Do single mothers receive an extra portion of Bolsa Família?
No. To date, there is no information or forecast from the Federal Government that indicates that single mothers have the right to receive the double amount paid by Bolsa Família.
This information happened due to people confusing what was already paid for the old and extinct Emergency Aid. The amount was transferred during the pandemic period by the Government to single mothers who were experiencing financial difficulties and, as a result, they received double the amount.
In this way, the Bolsa Família program is a social income transfer program, which aims to help people who are in a vulnerable situation and the rules for participating and receiving the amounts are always the same for all beneficiaries.
To do this, it is necessary to meet the requirements that are required by the program, such as having an income of up to R$ 210 per month per person, not being enrolled in any other pension program that exceeds the defined minimum income, being over 16 years old to be the family responsible, does not have a CNPJ linked to the holder, in addition to being duly registered in CadÚnico (Cadastro Único). The Federal Government makes the selection automatically.
Therefore, there will be no additional amount or double amount for single mothers who are registered and receiving the installments paid by Bolsa Família.
Permanent assistance for mothers who are heads of households
PL nº 2099/20 benefits mothers who are heads of families with permanent assistance worth R$ 1,200 per month. To do this, you must be over 18 years old, not have active formal employment, have an income of half a minimum wage per capita or up to 3 minimum wages, not receive other social security or assistance benefits and be registered with CadÚnico.
However, the text is still being processed in the Chamber of Deputies since November 2021 without any significant progress.
